GATE 2018 Exam Dates have been released now. Admissions to Postgraduate Programs (Master’s and Doctoral) with MHRD and other Government Scholarships/Assistantships in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science are open to those who qualify in GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering). Candidates can get admissions into M.Tech./Ph.D. programmes in IITs, IISc, IISERs and other reputed institutions through GATE score.
What is GATE?
Every year, GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is organised by the seven zonal IITs and an IISc on a rotational basis. The Organizing Institute of GATE 2018 is Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT- G).
Apart from granting admission, the score of GATE exam is also considered as one of the criteria for recruitment to government and private organisations working in technical fields. GATE 2018 score will be valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of results.

The important GATE Registration prerequisites is given below:
- All the candidates must apply online only
- GATE 2018 registration will be open from 1st September 2017 to 5th October 2017
- Aspirants must fill out the GATE 2018 application form through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS)

GATE 2018 examination will be conducted in selected cities and towns in India as well as in the following cities abroad:
- Addis Ababa (Ethiopia)
- Colombo (Sri Lanka)
- Dhaka (Bangladesh)
- Dubai (UAE)
- Kathmandu (Nepal)
GATE 2018: Application Fee
Candidates can pay the application fee via net banking, debit card or e-challan. GATE 2018 registration fee details are given below:
For Centres in India
Female candidates: Rs 750/-
SC, ST, PwD candidates: Rs 750/-
All other candidates: Rs 1500/-
For Centres Abroad
Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka, and Kathmandu: US$ 50
Dubai and Singapore: US$ 100
GATE 2018: Admit Card
Admit card can be downloaded from GOAPS website. It will not be sent via email or post. Successfully registered candidates will be able to download the GATE 2018 admit card on 5th January 2018. With the printed copy of admit card, students also need to bring one identification proof to the examination hall.
ID proof may be any of these:
- PAN Card
- Voter ID
- Aadhaar UID
- Valid College ID
- Employee identification card, or
- Driving License
From international students, only valid Passport/ Government issued ID/College ID/ Employee ID will be accepted as ID proof.
